March 9, 2011: Discovery and Training Seminar at Engrave-A-Crete — March Session Starts
WOW! What a day March 9 is! The Flathead V8 engine sings to hot rodders, has been a workhorse in agriculture, the military and stationary engine needs. First built on March 9, 1932, the Flathead V8 is still going — practical, applicable equipment. Listen to that sweet cackle
The Mustang happened because Robert J. Eggert, the market research manager at Ford read a book entitled the THE MUSTANGS by J. Frank Dobie in 1960. No one at Ford wanted to use the name, but consumer tests showed Mustang had significantly more appeal than other choices. The rest is history. The first Mustang was turned out on March 9, 1964 and moved right up there with the Model T as a business success for Ford. The Pony car is in its fifth generation of production at Ford.
Discovery and Training Seminar for decorative concrete at Engrave-A-Crete is yet another reason to mark March 9 on your calendars, even with the impressive and historical mechanical competition of the Mustang and the Flathead V8 engine. Students become artists and business people in three days of intense hands-on activities. They launch across fresh concrete pads to use concrete cutting, engraving and blasting tools. Color choices for reactive acid stain and pigmented stain fill more assignments, all topped off with acrylic sealers and epoxy treatments that make the concrete designs super dimensional.
Special sessions cover marketing, business management and more. Local professional caterers, Two Tarts, serve up delicious home cooked meals for lunch and dinner. Cameras are welcome; they flash constantly as students document the history they are making in the transformation of plain gray concrete into low-maintenance works of art.
