Heavy Decorative Concrete Tables Serve at Heavy Metal Concerts in Dvory, Czechoslovakia

Engrave s.r.o. Dvory Table Project

The classic table and bench design developed by Vlada Hanzl using decorative concrete and trestle engineering has attracted another client. Engrave s.r.o., Vlada’s company, has been commissioned to create concrete tables for a new restaurant in Dvory in Czechoslovakia the Czech Republic, near Kutna Hora.

The restaurant hosts weekly heavy metal concerts including groups such as Alkehol Harlej. Approximately 1000 people attend the concerts. The tables’ sturdy design coordinates well with the massive, diverse sound which metal bands use to express their art.

Engrave s.r.o. will be installing 100 benches and 50 tables. He has about 15 on site for the ‘pressure tests’. Each table and bench set up weighs 360 kg.

Vlada engraves, stains and seals art representing themes for the bands on the table tops. Each table will have a metal band engraving 25 foreign and 25 domestic bands.

There will be further projects at the Dvory restaurant in the bar area.

Vlada’s tables were chosen because the concrete  stands up to crowd pressure — the tables are difficult to move or destroy.

“Concrete Resurrection stains and sealers will be MY brand far into the future.” Says Troy Brown, Reading, PA Decorative Concrete Pro

Artizan Concrete Engraving

Troy Brown of Artizan Concrete Engraving works in and around Reading, Pennsylvania, a town with a distinctive history.

Troy’s latest project, was a video store and entertainment complex.  He says, “This project made me a loyal Engrave-A-Crete fan.  Concrete Resurrection stains and sealers will be MY brand far into the future.”

When Troy started the project, he listened to a sales pitch for another brand and reasoned that he could benefit from having a local resource.  First he applied the “other” stain, creating a disaster. A speedy call to Engrave-A-Crete to order the necessary Concrete Resurrection WRC stain colors got the floor’s future turned toward a better end.  But, following the earlier reasoning, he decided to go with the ‘other’ brand of sealer.  That choice didn’t work well, resulting in more speedy calls to order Concrete Resurrection sealers and seek some technical advice and information.

All of these changes led to delays, of course, which were a discomfort for the customer and an embarrassment for Troy.  He was convinced the job would be a disaster.

Quite the opposite occurred when the large marble-style finish was completed so that the business could open.  The customer was amazed and pleasantly surprised by the look of their new floor design.  It was transformed from a mess of mastic and thin-set which held the old carpet and tile flooring into a floor the owners rate an ELEVEN on a scale of one to ten.  More than the owners, Troy said, “EVERYONE from their current patrons (the old store 2 doors down) to their vendors to the contractors doing the additional work, are “floored” by the new look, it is extremely unique (especially for this area) and is a huge conversation piece.”

Troy added, “I would like to again thank Dale, Brandon and the entire EAC staff for working with me through this VERY difficult project and promise I will never stray from their top-shelf product line and their impeccable service and spot-on advice, they are all AWESOME!”

Incorporating Cracks Into Concrete Design | Wisconsin Decorative Concrete Engraving

Amazing Concrete Designers

From the beginning, plans determined that the slab that John Rausch’s company, Amazing Concrete Designers,  poured for the front stoop of the new stone home would be stained and engraved.

Before the decorative concrete design was deployed, the pillars planned by the architect were placed on the slab, They stood closer to one another than originally designed. Their combined weight at that placement caused unsightly cracks on the slab running from the pillars to the foundation. As you can imagine, disappointment loomed heavy over Wisconsin.

The plans changed only slightly as John first stained the slab a custom color selected by the owner. Then John engraved a pattern that incorporated the cracks and keeps them from showing. To enhance the flagstone pattern even more, the owner joined John in mixing custom stain colors in shades that complement the colors in the stone used to build the house and the pillars.

The porch is beautiful.

Best of all, the customer was thrilled with the results.  Wisconsin concrete owners are catching on to the artwork that Amazing Concrete Designers can produce to improve their existing concrete.

AZ Relax Bazénové Centrum | Decorative Concrete in the Czech Republic

Vlada Hanzl’s Facebook friends have been watching the progress via photos. “What are the ‘slabs’ of concrete?” they wondered. Many uses were suspected, but tables were not on that list!

The pieces didn't look like they would become tables

Vlada, owner of Engrave s.r.o. has been planning and accomplishing a project with AZ Relax Bazénové Centrum in Kutnà Hora, Czech Republic. The patio area of over 2000 square feet of flat concrete was poured, cured, stained and engraved with dramatic and stylish backgrounds for the AZ Relax logo.

Working with a long time friend, Tomas, Vlada has accomplished the concrete patio area and built fifty concrete table/bench combinations for the AZ Relax patio and dance floor. The concrete table tops stand on sturdy concrete trestles — all weighing 400 kg. Vlada bought a small Ford Transit truck to move them from his studio to the patio.

The tables have a variety of designs incorporating AZ Relax logos and colors, or games such as chess in to the top design of the table. The table with the alphabet engraved is a beautiful thing.

Vlada and Tomas proudly ‘test’ some of the tables in their photos. They live and work in historic Kutnà Hora, located in the heart of the Czech Republic and silver mining area of the past.

Iroquois Wolves | Iroquois Job Corps Center | Decorative Concrete in New York State

Masonry Classes at Iroquois Job Corps Center Iroquois Wolves, Mascot for Iroquois Job Corps Center Engraving of Iroquois Wolves' logo at Iroquois Job Corps Center

Robert Sotir teaches masonry skills at the Iroquois Job Corps Center in Medina, New York, the home of the Iroquois Wolves mascot. Robert used his Engrave-A-Crete tools to engrave the Wolves’ logo on the floor of a dormitory lobby at the school.

As I talked with Robert about his concrete projects I quickly learned how much he loves working with concrete or masonry and loves to teach the skills to students ranging from 17 to 24 years of age. In a phone interview with Diane Krenning, Public Relations Liaison for the Center, I learned more about the facility’s beautiful, inspiring location and the determination of the students to learn and become successful.

The Iroquois Job Corps Center is located in the midst of the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge in western New York state. The students are multi-cultural and dedicated to learning their chosen trade while contributing to their community. While spending long and productive days learning these trades, students also enjoy an extensive recreational program rated as one of the best in the United States. Student Government Association (SGA) expands social skills beyond hands-on techniques of the trade as the members develop a voice and are involved with the operation of the center. In recognition for volunteer services with several local organizations, students at the Center have been named Volunteer of the Year by the local Chamber of Commerce.

A graduate of Discovery and Training Seminar, Robert’s company, Con-Creations occupies his extra time. He engraved the large logo as a way to demonstrate the opportunity for art in concrete in addition to substance along with brick and stone. Robert wanted the students to have this extra cultural element in their educational and skill picture of their future.
